Brennan & Clark Promotes Paula Catalano to CFO to Drive Next Phase of Growth

Paula Catalano CFO Brennan & Clark

Brennan & Clark, a leading agency in the collections industry, is pleased to announce the promotion of Paula Catalano to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective immediately. Paula’s promotion reflects her exceptional leadership and contributions during key moments in the company’s evolution and her commitment to operational excellence.

Since joining Brennan & Clark as Controller in 2019, Paula has played a critical role in supporting and advancing the company’s financial and operational strategies. Her leadership during a pivotal acquisition early in her tenure—and her financial guidance throughout the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—were instrumental to Brennan & Clark’s stability and growth.

“From the outset, Paula brought a high level of accountability, clarity, and discipline to our financial operations,” said Meg Scotty, CEO of Brennan & Clark. “She was hired just prior to a major acquisition, and within months was leading the financial modelling and planning that ensured the investment was profitable. She has consistently translated insight into action. As our company moves forward and compliance intensifies, I am confident Paula will continue to provide the financial insight and risk analysis to enhance the company’s long-term financial resilience.”

As CFO, Paula will oversee the full scope of Brennan & Clark’s financial strategy, including forecasting, risk analysis, operational efficiency, and the implementation of advanced financial technologies. With the company’s recent expansion, relocation to new headquarters, and adoption of process automation to serve clients more effectively, Paula’s role will be key to ensuring Brennan & Clark’s ability to scale while maintaining its personalized service approach.

“This is an exciting time for Brennan & Clark,” said Paula. “The ever-changing world of technology is opening up many opportunities for us to advance to the future in collections.  We are already in the process of implementing more automated processes to help us better serve our clients’ needs.  Advanced technologies will play a pivotal role in the future of Brennan & Clark and I’m excited for what’s to come. I’m also honored to step into this role and look forward to helping guide our strategic direction in the years ahead.”

Paula’s journey at Brennan & Clark is also a testament to the organization’s culture of internal growth and opportunity. A self-described “habitual learner,” she has earned multiple certifications while balancing the demands of a full-time leadership role and raising a family. Her commitment to continuous development, along with her emphasis on transparency and mentorship, has earned her deep respect within the company.

“I believe that true leadership is not about control, but about creating space for others to grow,” Paula said. “I’ve had the opportunity to mentor a talented team that meets every challenge head-on. Their growth enables me to focus on broader strategy—and their success is a reflection of what we value here at Brennan & Clark.”

CEO Meg Scotty notes that Paula’s promotion exemplifies Brennan & Clark’s approach to leadership. “We don’t hire or promote for appearances or to check a box—we do it for strength, character, and the ability to push the organization forward – even if it means going against the status quo. And all that describes Paula.”

Paula’s elevation to CFO also reinforces Brennan & Clark’s commitment to building an inclusive leadership team based on merit, performance, and long-term potential. While men still hold nearly 72% of CFO positions in the U.S., Paula’s appointment is a powerful example of what’s possible when leadership is earned and opportunity is supported. As a woman-owned business, Brennan & Clark continues to invest in mentoring and talent development programs designed to foster advancement at every level of the organization.

“Everyone in our company knows that the sky is the limit if they want it,” added Meg. “Paula’s journey is proof of that.”
